Linden,
I am on Win98 right now.
I will download and install the 2.6 driver and let you know if anything
blows up on my end... I feel pretty comfortable installing this.. I usually
keep up on these, but have yet to install 2.6.... but I notice a Jet4.0 SP3
alongside it...and both may be necessary for proper function since Protel
uses the Jet portion of these components.
I have been running 2.5 for quite a while now... so I am pretty sure this is
safe... and I know it works with SP6 for Protel... so if you wanna grab 2.5
and wait a few days to hear how 2.6 goes then that will hopefully at least
get you up and running.
The problem here is that other programs use these components... and although
updating them for Protel will help Protel work, other programs may not like
the update.
Generally when 2000 is mentioned in these it is referring to the 2000
product that they are included in as part of the standard installation, so I
wouldn't let that worry you too much.
I keep the 2.5 handy, and have had to re-install it a few times as other
programs enter my system.
I hope one of these updates does the trick for you without causing any new
grief.
