I would strongly recommend uninstalling SP6 first, and Protel 99 SE last.
And if you have installed yet other SPs, then uninstall them as well, and in
the reverse sequence to which they were installed. That is, uninstall SP6
first, then uninstall SP5, then SP4, then SP3, then Protel 99SE (which
incorporates SP2 within itself) last of all.
To get the "cleanest" possible de-installation, I would follow up by
deleting any residual files from the Protel folder and/or the Windows folder
(obviously, I am referring to Protel files in the case of the latter
folder). (If you want, you can make backup copies of configuration files,
and store these *elsewhere*, before you commence uninstalling the SPs and
Protel 99 SE.) And if you are really keen, know what you are doing, and are
careful enough, I would even suggest scanning the registry for Protel
entries and purging those as well (after completing the un-install
procedures).
One thing that can save you some time is to re-install Protel 99 SE, and
then re-install *just* SP6 (without reinstalling any of the previous SPs),
as SP6 (like its predecessors) is cumulative in nature.
I am sorry to hear that purging the configuration files from the Windows
folder did not fix your problem, so I hope that re-installing Protel 99 SE
does sort things out.
Regards,
Geoff Harland.
