It is quit possible you are correct. It is also possible that the yet-unidentified-chip on the motherboard locks the board to the original processor. Microsoft has taken major steps to provide an un-hackable Game system. It seems to me they are seriously testing a lot of new technology on this machine.
In fact it wouldn't even surprise me if 5 years from now you CAN'T BUY THE OPERATING SYSTEM. By that I mean, you have to buy a Motherboard/Processor combo that has the OS embedded into the processor with similar security as the 360 has now. Thereby forcing EVERYONE to either DITCH MICROSOFT COMPLETELY or BUY ALL NEW COMPUTERS. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bryan Drewery Sent: Monday, December 05, 2005 9:05 AM To: free60-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Free60-Devel] cryptography -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Richard Colbert Jr wrote: > Just one problem with that logic Patrick. Wouldn't it make sense to assume that since Microsoft has a custom ppc chip, that they have custom opcodes which a replacement cpu wouldn't have, and the system would immediately crash/lockout when running with the wrong cpu? ;) - -- Bryan -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (MingW32) iD8DBQFDlFczl+t6ETqAlpQRAlaeAJ4ly+vcyfazIpcyz5vaA4AQbb7sJACeKfmr SBPG9E9zwphCfU0ELb29tX4= =FY6u -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
