Follow-up Comment #2, patch #1731 (project freeciv):
Increasing the number of players is only changing one number after this
patch. The problem is, that if it is increased to 1024, freeciv will need
1024 * 6k = 6MB for each game even if only one player slot is used. For AI
player this will be further increased.
To increase the number of players to 1024, a player_list should be used (see
speclist.h and as example unit_list). Also have a look at the patches I send
to the mailing list; there I did start this work.
