Like Keith, I tend to blame the workers. Primarily because I think they have the practical IQ but are easily swayed by the community of fundamentalist religion. Unlike Keith I don't believe they are dumb however I do believe they are complicit as in Wisconsin when the wealthy were able to foment a civil war within families.

My gloomy assessment is that the bad guys have now been more or less able to close the circle (through the judicious use of the media, huge amounts of money, complacent political classes, and an effective intervention into the noosphere (societal ideation)).
