I think it's just a matter of correctly specifying the fonts. @Pavel Note however that there has been a longstanding bug related to this (that's why I and any non-elglish parlant have been using the DefaultCharset patch around for quite some years). So, be sure to use the latest fvwm version which works without this, and to read all the stuff about fonts and such. Make also sure that your font supports all the special characters (though I am sure you already did that). The gtk stuff is not related.
