Hi,
I've tried to fix described error with partial luck. When I've tried to use
fonts from /usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi|misc, I cannot see character ě displayed
correctly. All used fonts contain affected character (checked by FontForge)
When I try to set title font from Type1 fonts, I can see "ě" character, but
this character is too big and it does not correspond to selected font. How can
I see which font is actually used when this character is displayed? It is clear
now, that selected font doesn't contain affected character and a substitution
is used. How can I find name of this font?

Thank you,
  Pavel
