Ok, I have to say something in Microsoft's defense here. =) We here
at the DOE and the K-12 Kentucky educational system have the largest
Microsoft proxy server implementation in the world. It consists of ~1700
servers and supports ~650,000 users. Since its implementation it has been
rock solid. The problems that we have had (most of which have been
performance related issues at the top level), have been quickly solved and
put to rest. The product is easy to setup and manage... _with proper
planning_. That's the key. Proper planning. I know that a lot of problems
people have with Microsoft Proxy Server is because they didn't carefully
evaluate their needs and works towards a solution that best fits them.
Proxy Server can be a complex product if you use some of the more advanced
features, and should never be thought of as a quick-setup-and-run product.
My experience _with_ the product and level of support _for_ the product has
been nothing but excellent.
Thanks,
Abe
PS-I'm not affiliated with Microsoft in any way. This is just my 2 cents.
