Your running OS.x 9 or earlier right? Orinoco cards work with the Airport drivers directly, at least in OS 9, possibly 8, I don't recall for sure now. AFAIK the WaveLAN card is the same as Orinocos. Not this applies to Ornoco Silver and Gold PC Cards, not CardBus cards. I would disable the Avaya drivers and re-enable the Airport stuff and try it out.
