The problem is that the G3 isn't fast enough to decode. I can play XviDs on my Wallstreet II 266 in very low res mode and it still drops frames. You really need a G4 to play them. I've been hunting a G4 for a while with no success. I have the DVD drive and decoder. I know that a G3-AIO with a G4/366 will play XviDs just fine, and since they are basically the same hardware as the Wallstreet II's, I'm willing to bet a G4/466 or 500 will play them just fine. I did have a G3/466, but it wasn't able to play video files even at that speed. > Would a 'Lombard' G-book be more successful in playing these same type > divx avi files? Probably not due to slow cpu unless you have a G4 upgrade. > Do Lombard DVD drive Modules play burned dvd movie discs successfully? Copied disks will depend on the drive being able to read them. Haven't had much success on my Wallstreet. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
