A copy of DiskWarrior is an invaluable tool that can save a lot of
time for an installation like this. It will magically fix a lot of
stuff that others say it can't , but it's the best $99,00 you'll
ever spend. You have to remember Tiger came out after the G3
PowerBooks. I know this first hand, I have a Wally on XpostFacto
Tiger booting an 80GB drive. Plus I can boot externals with that G3.
Wallstreet 300MHz.
Maybe worth noting - if you want to repair your main hard drive with
DW4, you'll need to be running Tiger from another volume, and
preferably from another hard drive altogether. I use an 'XCaret Pro'
Hard Drive expansion bay module for this. If I have trouble with the
internal drive, I can simply insert the expansion bay hard drive,
reboot into Tiger from that drive, and also run DW4 from there.
When I last looked they were still available new from the
manufacturer MCE for $69.

or else search the site for 'XPKIT'
And of course you might get lucky on Ebay.
(Expansion Bay Heaven is of course TWO expansion modules, so you can
mount extra hard drives simultaneously in both right and left
expansion bays)
