Ben, If you don't need to do heavy 3-D graphic work, or are not a hardcore gamer (which I guess you're not, judging by the computers you have now), just get a Macbook. The 13", 1280 x 800 res screen is a nice compromise. It has a full-size keyboard, and, other than the metal case and the dedicated video card (which I don't miss at all), you get the same horse power and all the same bells and whistles as with any MBP for considerably less dough.
It has long been Apple's best seller, and I can see why. And can attest to it.
