I still haven't gotten around to trying 10.4 and I may never. But 10.3
on a WallStreet is not only possible it works much better than 10.2.

Perhaps 10.3 is optimal on a Wallstreet. It's a much leaner OS. But
using Postfacto and tweaking your system a bit, Tiger runs pretty
good. Of course you need to max out the RAM for it.

I have a lot of Macs and by far one of my favorite project machines is my Wally 300 512. I stared out as a Macintosh PowerBook G3 233Mz 14" 64MB RAM and a 2GB HDD (the last one with the colored Apple) It was a college grad present to my son in 1999.

I have since installed a 300MHz daughter card, a 80 GB HDD and 512 RAM. It can boot 3 onboard systems.
Tiger 10.4.11
OS 8.5
OS 9.2.2
XPostFacto is the greatest utility for the Wally's allowing them to run with the big dogs. If I were you I'd just go straight to Tiger you'll go to it eventually anyway if you use the machine daily, You can get a 300 processor card and 512 RAM cheap from Jim at [email protected]. XPostFacto is free from OWC and easy to use. I like to take my Wally the the library, someone always
comments on it.
