Hi all,

Travelled across the country today by car. My Pismo was knocked off a
table by a cat. It fell, cover first, and landed with a horrible smack
on hard wood floors. It boots, but 70 percent or more of the screen
looks like stained glass. Does this need a new screen? If yes, where
do I get one pronto - how much - how do I replace it? Like I said, I
can boot it, and if I only use the top left portion of the screen, I
can click on apps and open them, etc. Anything under the broken
segment of course is not touchable. This is a tragedy because I was
traveling with it to get some work done - now ... *sigh*

That screen is toast.

To fix it you'll need to find a replacement screen and tear apart the computer and replace it. Ie. it's involved. Unless you are extremely lucky and find some local shop that has the display in stock and can turn it around in short order you are pretty much stuck.

You might check out Wegener Media, they have a replacement service including shipping and what looks like fast turn around.
