Get the server install for powerpc and install only the base system.
The other two cds install the default gnome system which has a lot of
junk you may not want. However if your skill is small, it will be
easier to get going but it will be a lot slower. I use the lxde and
lubuntu (light ubuntu) packages on my Wallstreet where I have just put
Ubuntu10LTS and it is way better than the default install I tried on a
g4 and an imac g3 (which were a lot slower even on the faster
machines, uggh)

Also watching out for journaled hfs+ filesystems, they will only mount
read-only. For going back and forth you can use msdos format usb stick
or pc card flash card or something.

I didn't know about the program for reading ext2 in osX so I am glad
to try it. I had a program to read ext2 from os9 only problem was it
only worked with pc x86 linux that uses the other byte order... (i
guess it was used in early porting efforts).

I had by the way debian on my pismo for years but I have tried Ubuntu
this year because of wifi troubles and I like it well, with the
install above, with the standard install I hate it.
