Remember that these things are not inexpensive upgrades when compared to the value of a new computer, and its ability to last a long time. I would certainly recommend looking at buying a different computer, such as an iMac (new or older), that had built in USB, CD-burner, modem, etc. Compare these prices with the cost of the upgrades that you are considering.
