No, your G3/266 [ * ] can handle a UATA/133 drive (but at the EIDE rate ... 
16.67 MB/sec).

Remember that the current crop of UATA/133 drives from Maxtor are really 
Quantums. The current crop of UATA/100 drives from Maxtor are actually 
Maxtors.

I've had very good results with Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 and IBM 60GXP 
drives, both in 60 GB sizes. But 60 GB is the max for these series. Both work 
fine with either the EIDE bus of a Beige G3 or the UATA/66 bus of any of 
several UATA cards.

[ * ] Late /266 machines are Rev. B or C and can handle Slave drives; early 
/266 machines are Rev. A and cannot handle Slaves. If a Beige machine of any 
speed came factory stock with an EIDE Zip, then it is Rev. B or C.
