I also recently purchased a rev A ROM beige G3 MT. After researching this a
bit and reading the comments on this and other threads I'm still not sure if
the following will work:
-delete original IDE CD-R and replace with 2'nd HD
-substitute a SCSI CD-R as the prime CD player (I have an old one)
I'm thinking that this is more like have 2 HD on separate IDE bus. Can
someone clarify this? (Sorry if this is redundant from many past posts)
Relative to the use of retrospect on a CD-RW, I used it just recently on a
2'nd hand ext 8/4/24 CD-RW and it appeared to work just fine. Of course, I
haven't tested it to see if it will actually restore the drive yet but the
software indicated the back-up was successful.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
