I might chime in here to mention that 2 months ago I purchased the new Western Digital Special Edition Hard drive, 80GB, 7200rpm, with 8MB backside cache. It comes with a 2yr guarantee and I must admit it has been operating quite well. I have it as my 2nd drive with nothing but OSX and related apps installed on it. My other drive is an IBM Deskstar 40GB 7200rpm, and runs O.S. 9.2.2 and related apps and it is also quite nice. When I installed the 2nd drive, I hadn't done anything like that before, so I called the Western Digital tech supt. number, got right in, and the supt. tech was very helpful, courteous, and even sent me an email about 3 days later just to follow up and make sure the drive was functioning properly and I was happy with their service. I've got no complaints so far with WD hard drives or the service I've received. The drive is fast, very quiet, runs OS X well, and I like the extra 8MB Cache, most have between 1 to 4, at least those at Fry's and CompUSA that I looked at. It supposedly makes imaging and photo processing faster. It is faster than the IBM drive. The sales rep at Fry's said that Western Digital had a problem with a couple of HD models, but they have since taken care of those problems and this new special edition model was their top of the line and they had not had any complaints or returns of it since they've carried it. It was also $30 cheaper than a comparable model by other mfgrs. Just a little food for thought! Ron Ward G List co-nanny Austin, TX -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
