Ah, so one version of Norton will mess up your HDD that has both 9 & 10 if you try Disk Doctor, etc. My point was that to optimize a HDD (say a file to be burned), you must use Norton, but you say Tech Tool Pro can do that but I suspect it will also do an "exam" before optimizing. George
