Hi Jim: Thanks for the response. I have Extension Overload. It's a nice program, but it doesn't tell you if the software is pertinent to your system or necessary to work with something else installed. There are a number of programs in the "Apple Extra" folder and in the CD Extras program and I've got over 670 folders in my "preferences" folder, many of which just have a number on them and nothing else. When I check them in the information window on the finder, there is no manufacturer listed or what they connected to. As far as I know, Extensions Overload doesn't manage "Preferences". I have a lot of room on my hard drive, I just wanted to clean up the old folders that seem to have been there forever, and see if there is something installed that is preventing the Automatic Software Update that comes in 9.2.2 from working. I also installed VersionTracker Pro and that updater doesn't work either. There must be something installed that's conflicting with my being able to update my system automatically.
