That's what happened when I tried an Xclaim VR in mine. OS X hates it, 
but it wouldn't even start with from a OS 9 CD with only the Xclaim.

Suggestions: borrow someone's 9.2.1 disk and install from that and/or 
use this as your motivation to buy 10.2.
