Correct, you cant boot a B&W with a retail 8.5 cd. Pissed me off when I bought my first G3 used on ebay. Came with no OS CD of course, and I had a promo copy of 8.5 I wanted to install for audio..
Whats really weird, I can boot my Powerbook 800 from the cd and install it but not my old B&W 350.. Go figure.. > The B&W G3 shipped with it's own version of OS 8.5.
