Hi,
        I have a rev 2 Yosemite with a Teac CD-W516E (16,10,40)
It is bootable with the 9.1 and 10.1 CDs and allows to install the OS
without problems

.You need a CD-ROM drive with an Apple firmware ROM in. The ROM contains
>custom instructions that help the Mac recognise and boot from the CD from
>the on-board Mac Firmware. I don't *think* even most modern CD-ROM or
>CD-RW drives that boot a PC will boot a Mac. Some people have reported
>isolated models of CD-RW that seem to boot a Mac OK but I have no idea if
>there is a definitive list.
