The B&W G3 shipped with it's own version of OS 8.5. I doubt the retail 
version would ever boot that machine. The retail 9.1 should work, just 
fine. And, it fact, it does start the boot process. It's not likely a 
problem with the CD-ROM drive is you can any boot activity from the 9.1 
disk.

I would suspect the video card as the problem. It may never boot with 
that card, but you might try a CUDA reset to persuade that board to 
recognize a different video card. And, if you've not removed the PRAM 
battery, I would do so and check the voltage.
