I am still having problems on mu G3, with Explorer 4 and Nescape 4. Explorer
4 will access about 3 searches, then just hangs. The mouse pointer moves OK,
and I can be running Solitare while I am waiting for the web page to load.
While Solitare in in the foreground and Explorer is in the background, if I
select Control-Option-Escape, Explorer wil abort.

Well that solves the hanging application, but why doesn't it abort Solitare
when it is in the foreground? This is a consistent problem.

So I started using Netscape instead, and it took on a new personality. It
seems that the mouse pointer was always active, because whatever it was
pointing to would attempt to access a link on whatever Netscape was
displaying. Note: The mouse button was NOT depressed when this was
happening. This only seems to happen with Netscape and no other application,
so it isn't a problem with the mouse. Now Netscapr will not start at all.
And I am getting 'Error 1' messages.

There should not be a lack of memory problem, as I reciently installed 768 MB
of memory (3-256 MB boards). The system only had 32 MB of memory, and there
were obvious problems in running applications. Now with 768 MB of memory,
a;; applications require 2 to 3 times as much memory.

I am running OS 8.1. Is 8.6 any better? Where can I find downloads for
Explorer and Netscape? Remember, surfing the net is something that I can't
do, so I need a single web address. If the content of the System folder is
getting trashed, which is causing the problems, would it make sense to buy
some 250 MB ZIP drives; install an operating system on one, and placing a
backup copy on anothe. Then when Explorer and Netscapr get screwed up, I can
boot from the CD, and delete the old System and repplace it with the copy.

Reloading the OS and all the applications on a weekly basis is a real pain.
Are there any reasonable alternatives? Thanks,

David Blish
