In the continuing problems I'm having of late after my
power surge with my Beige G3 where the Apple 48x IDE
CD rom no longer mounts, I was surprised and happy
to discover that this PC 48x IDE CD rom made by
Lite-on corporation not only mounts CD's but will
actually boot on the key of "C".

I was depressed when I noticed the prices of the Apple
48x IDE CD rom. I recently acquired this lite-on ide
cd rom at a flea market for $5 which was pulled from a
dell, to make room for a CDRW. I currently had it in a
Compaq I also acquired cheaply.

It's annoying how so many stores try to gauge Mac
users. I find stores like MacResq very high. I've even
seen prices at Macresq higher than I can purchase
parts new at my local Mac store. There are others. I
have found Other World Computing a very respectible
store whose prices are very reasonable. I originally
purchased this Apple 48 cd rom from them for $26 which
I'm sure they could have gotten more for.

But it would nice to get a list of CD roms as well as
CD RW that will boot on the key of "C", independent of
any OS. Some will only boot from the startup menu
and/or shift/option/comman/delete which can be
difficult if you have more than one OS on your hard
drives.
