Hey Rich,
Thanks for the reply. I'm curious if your combo card is a SONNET and if not
what brand it is and which OS you are running on your G3 MiniTower. Maybe
you can shoot me an E-mail when you get home later today and let me know.

It's not a Sonnet. I'll look and tell tonight.

Meanwhile, I have question maybe someone can give an opinion on.

My only complaint about my combo board is that firewire video out isn't stable
unless I turn off usb (hide the extensions.) Even then, with everything else
turned off, it still drops the occasional frame. This is not a major problem
for me since I output to DVD or VCD which isn't affected, but it does mean I
can't monitor iMovie edits or color corrections on an analog monitor, except as
stills.

When I raised this on the list some time back, one opinion was that the problem
was the bandwidth of the combo board, which implies that a seperate firewire
card would handle the task.

My three pci slots contain the combo, a Radeo 7000 and an ATA133 Acard so I
can't afford to have seperate boards.

So I am wondering if it is the combo board or whether the pci bus of a Beige
just can't handle it.

Anyone know?

By the way, dv firewire in is fine with usb enabled. Go figure.

Rich
