Try this: disconnect all cables incl. power, remove pram battery, press start button slowly about 5 times, let the Mac rest for an hour at least, try to rebuild the OS with another HDD (try classic OS first); you may even remove the Rom Dimm, the Dimms and check the gold leads for oxidation and rub carefully with a soft pencil eraser or other eraser.
