I have a G3 B&W 350.
Okay. I can now start from an install CD. I have a 40GB IDE drive attached. I partitioned the HD into two parts and started the installation of Jaguar on the first partition. But after the restart, the machine refuses to start from the HD. It comes up with the grey screen with the apple on it.
Is there some restriction on the B&W about partition sizes on an IDE drive?
No but that sounds like the problem I had with the G3 in our office.
If the partition is too big, you get an error when you try to install it...when it comes time to pick the drive to install on all of them have the circle/slash.
On the one in our office (a G3/300) the HD was the only one on the bus; I had it jumpered as 'Master', but it wouldn't boot properly until I set the jumpers to nothing (turned the jumper sideways on those pins)
It was odd, but it worked.
In this case the CD Rom drive was a SCSI one, the HD was the only IDE device in the machine.
