Its probably the hard drive about to enter the downward spiral! If it is a WD caviar (I have had several go kaput lately) I would back that thing up ASAP. Which leads me to a new question...were the WD Caviar 24300 IDE drives that shipped in so many Beige G3s built with a timed self destruct mechanism?
