Well, it's clear that I'm not going to convince you that Norton is great and you're not going to convince me that Norton is horrible. So, maybe we should swap war stories about it, but perhaps off the list would be the best place...

I've been in the Apple technical field for 10 years. I have never had
Norton Utilities "eat" a hard drive.

I am an ex-apple RD & D employee and I've been a fully certified Apple tech
since 1991. That's 12 years (since you want to pull up histories) and I beg
to differ. Especially with version 3-5. Remember when Symantec had to pull
it off the shelves for a couple of months because it was killing drives back
in 1996-7?

Some drives are so bad off it may be Norton that "seems" to kill them, but it
usually simply a coincidence.

I don't want to argue *symantecs* with you here. ;-)
My point is that even if a drive is not functioning properly a piece of util
software shouldn't send it over the edge. Diskwarrior never does that.

I think it should be a part of your software troubleshooting toolkit.

As I stated earlier...it is. I only use it as a last resort, and it almost
never does anything good.

Disk Warrior is by far the best piece of troubleshooting software made for Mac.

Agreed. Everyone should own it. -- Kyle H. Hansen
