Relax, you can go from OS 7.6.1 to 9.1 on a C500. I did that in 2000. My advice is to make sure your target disk is OK. Go over it with DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro and take care of any problems and check the fragmentation. If the disk is more than 80% full, disk issues like fragmentation aren't the best of conditions for an install. I've also found it useful to go over the disk after the install too as I've frequently found troubles according to these disk utilities. Good luck.
