My early 350HMz (upgraded to 1.3GHz) G4 has such an internal Firewire port in addition to the original 2 firewire ports that can be accessed externally. IMO the internal firewire was put there on the hunch that hardware options might come into existence and that it might be used - but I'd in actuality it has been kinds orphaned.
