My early 350HMz (upgraded to 1.3GHz) G4 has such an internal Firewire port
in addition to the original 2 firewire ports that can be accessed
externally. IMO the internal firewire was put there on the hunch that
hardware options might come into existence and that it might be used - but
I'd in actuality it has been kinds orphaned. The number one main use of
firewire (IEEE 1394) is to connect digi camera's, but you can also hook up
your peripherals and connect 2 computers (turning one of them into a simple
hard disk Target Mode)
