I have gone that route, too, but that depends upon a the software decoder
in Apple DVD Player 2.7, and supporting hardware decoding in the Radeon
7000.

My goal was was to implement a Beige G3 DVD player as Apple originally
designed and manufactured it: using the Wings transition card, a generic
DVD player (a CD/DVD-ROM-R-R/W, in this case), and the built-in video for
display, with the original Apple DVD Player 1.3 (or other appropriate
version), which presumably depends upon the hardware decoding provided by
the Wings card.
