My goal was was to implement a Beige G3 DVD player as Apple originally
designed and manufactured it: using the Wings transition card, a generic
DVD player (a CD/DVD-ROM-R-R/W, in this case), and the built-in video for
display, with the original Apple DVD Player 1.3 (or other appropriate
version), which presumably depends upon the hardware decoding provided by
the Wings card.

I guess you are talking about the DVD-A/V card, the most recent of the wings
cards. I have one too, and never got the video in to work, apparently because
it requires the Rev 3 motherboard's video setup. It won't use a pci video
card, and, as rumor on this list has it, video in won't work after you add a pci
video card, even if it worked before.

Documentation on this card is minimal, as I discoverd during the fruitless
months I searched trying to get the video digitizer going.

Anyway, (to get right to the point,) I suspect that the DVD part of the card
requires the correct motherboard too (rev 3) and possibly the exact dvd drive
shipped with the computer when it was delivered with that wings card.

I keep the card since it is supposed to have a superior audio i/o chip.
