Thanks for the info, John! I had no idea somebody was doing that! That's great.

But I'd still like to get into video editing anyway one of these days,
simply because I have such a huge and scattered collection of home movies
on hi-8 cassettes that should be edited, consolidated, and burned onto DVDs
or something for family viewing. I thought editing commercial movies might
just turn out to be something that could be done on the side, as long as I
had the equipment anyway.

What gave me the idea is that I have a cousin who says that her (and mine
too I guess) nephew is using his PC to transfer commercial movies onto DVDs
which he then sells on Ebay--which is probably highly illegal. But that got
me to thinking that if a kid could do that on his home computer, it might
also be possible to edit the movies as well as copy them.

But copying/editing a full length movie probably takes up a lot of hard
drive space though, I imagine, and would probably require a dedicated
external drive or something.

Anyhow thanks again for the info on the already-cleaned-up movies. I'll zip
over to that website and take a gander at what's available.

Regards,

Tom
