Try putting the cd in the drive without running the program...does it show up on the desktop? Maybe the cd drive can't read the burned cds?
Does your version of Toast have the ability to "copy" like newer versions? If so, try making a straight copy without making an image first. I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try. I've heard of copy protected PC programs, but none for the Mac. Especially being that it is pretty old, we should be able to rule this out. Other than those ideas, I have NO idea. But of the three, I'm going to have to go with the old picky cd drive not reading the disk. Oh, another idea would be to create a mountable disk image with disk copy and just have it mount when you start the computer. This way you might be able to run the program without any cd at all. That is, if it recognizes it.
