I myself have used this particular trick many times-- always works on my g3, but the last time I tried it on my pb5300 it didn't work (not sure why, it was a while ago).
Anyway, definitely try to make a disc image: mount the image and try running the app (I even made an applescript that mounts the image and then launches the app w/ one click) katzy > > Oh, another idea would be to create a mountable disk image with disk copy > and just have it mount when you start the computer.
