Can't help you with the first question although I would like a 1GHz in my B&W :-), but 
from what I understand B&W G3s (and PCI-Graphics G4s aka Yikes) cannot boot through 
FW, because this function is not implemented in the firmware. That should also explain 
why these models cannot boot using the option key to select another boot volume.
