Hi Again I just got an email from a nice Tech fellow at Sonnet. I'm pasting in something about a bug and he seems against the 60G drive. I plan to review SCSI, IDE, and ATA tonight because I don't understand (sorry I'm a medical writer). Thanks! Tracy Bunting
Message: Actually my B&W G3 was a rev. 1 as well. It's not that rare. Of course, I knew about larger hard drives being a problem so I was booting off a 20GB drive attached to one of our Tempo cards. They're very popular for the rev. 1 B&W G3 owners for this reason. If you put that 60GB drive on your internal IDE bus, you are definitely going to run into issues with corruption and flaky behavior. We are tracking a rare bug that involves our L2/L3 cache-enabling kernel extension. It's been very hard to duplicate which means it's very hard to fix. That might be what you ran into with your 10.3.3 install. Removing our upgrade means our kernel extension doesn't load which means no chance for the bug to bite. Usually downloading a copy of Tune Up 1.2.7 from our website cures the bug for now. Version 1.2.8 which we include with the card is using a slightly different code base as it was written by a different programmer than the other version. > > Another thing I suppose i should ask is - are you using a SCSI or IDE > boot drive? -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
