Hi all; I have a G3-266DT and a 300MT. I put a 2nd hard drive in the DT on the CD cable with the CD. The CD was set as master and the hard drive as slave. Best leave it as Apple had it. It work perfectly that way. Never tried it the other way though. You have a Rev. 2 or 3 Rom to support slave drives in the Beige. As far as the IDE cable connections are concerned, there are 2 connectors on the motherboard marked J9 and J10. The boot drive goes on the cable plugged into the J9 connector and the CD, if it is IDE (or ATAPI) goes to the cable plugged into J10. IIRC, If you use only 1 internal IDE bus for 1 internal hard drive, you must use J9, as it is IDE bus 1. HTH --Thanks; Rev.
