I tried, but my OS 9 CD says I can not install the 9 over the OSX.
So I reinstalled 9 onto OSX, choose OS9 in classic, which worked but when I try to start up the computer on OS9, we get a gray screen.
:o(

In your situation both operating systems need to be on the same (8 GB) partition. I had the same issue with a Bondi I was tinkering with. Classic will run, but the machine will not boot into 9 in your type of configuration. Boot to the OS 9 CD and do a clean install of it on the same part that X is on. You'll be OK.

I installed OS X 2.3 on first partition and OS 9.x on the second partition on my orange imac.
The OS 9 will not even boot up. What could have went wrong?
I know OSX can only have hmm 8 gigs so I gave it 7.9gigs....should I have gave it less room?
Thank you all for your knowledge.
