So I reinstalled 9 onto OSX, choose OS9 in classic, which worked but when I try to start up the computer on OS9, we get a gray screen.

Classic will run, but the machine will not boot into 9 in your type of configuration. Boot to the OS 9 CD and do a clean install of it on the same part that X is on. You'll be OK.

I know OSX can only have hmm 8 gigs so I gave it 7.9gigs....should I have gave it less room?
