I use lots of older stuff. On my beige G3 desktop I use a LWIIf along with an Epson Color Stylus 880.
I don't understand why you want to spend so much on just one lw you can replace for much cheaper. I highly recommend the Epson Stylus 740. It has the ports you need for hook up to older computers plus a usb and a windows hook up. You can order the ink carts for under $3.00 each new. I have bought these printers from Goodwill stores for as litle as $7.95. I have three of them right now.
