The G3 B&W and G4 Yikes can not boot from the firewire port. It is a
limitation of their BIOS.

You can boot from a second internal ATA drive if you have a free IDE disk.

Subject: Booting from External FW HD?

The B&W G3/450 Rev 2 that I just acquired has one internal 68pin 9GB
SCSI drive with Mac OS 9.2.2 freshly installed.

I've heard it is best to use a separate partition for OSX 10.3.

Can I boot that G3 from an external FW HD on which OSX is installed?

What do I need to know about adding an internal ATA drive?

Maaki
