XPF is a carbon app that works in X and 9, and boots into both. I am not currently using it on my AGP Graphics G4 (no need), but used it extensively on my beige G3. It overcame the problems of booting up FW drives and the 8GB limitation on partition size. I booted routinely into 30+GB partitions on external FW drives.

Wayne, Is this reference to a boot up in a beige G3 with OS X only, or is this also applicable to Mac OS 9.x versions? I have a beige G3 DT 300 Mhz with 512 RAM and a PCI FW card that works well as an external HD data backup, but I haven't tried to boot from it. Maybe I should try. Thank you for the info. Don

That is not quite correct. With XPostFacto 3.x, available from macsales.com, these machines and the beige G3s, as well as earlier machines, can boot up from FW drives, both from built-in FW and PCI FW cards.
