I've been having trouble with my computer lately and I don't know if it's hardware or software based. When I finally upgraded to OS X a couple years ago I did run into some problems with questionable RAM and had to take out two 256 MB modules. Those crashes were kernel panics and would happen several times (6+) each day. What's left are two more generic, 256 MB modules.
My current problems seem to be centered around applications suddenly quitting. This has happened with PowerMail, Safari, RealPlayer, iTunes, Freehand--just about everything as far as I can tell.
I think you have RAM problem again. Just a couple of days ago I fixed these exactly same unexpected quits on a G4 Cube by removing one RAM stick.
