before giving up on the ram, it's worth cleaning the contacts. use a clean pencil
eraser
(pen erasers are too abrasive) and polish the contacts until they are shiny, on an
antistatic surface like a wooden table or newspaper, and not in a room with carpet!.
you'll have to blow off the eraser crumbs, the eraser can be cleaned using a piece of
clean paper as needed. this is often a problem with ram that's been in for several
years,
particularly in humid areas, i've run into it a lot on older macs. might fix your
other
ram problems as well. generally, the only problem with generic ram has been when it's
programed wrong (there is a small permanent memory chip on each dimm with information
about the dimm, some manufacturers programed that memory wrong), and os x will
generally
ignore or complain about such ram, so your ram is probably ok. dust bunnies in the
machine or a fan not working are also good things to check, any of these things can
cause
problems. also run your disk utilities, since os x uses swap space drive problems can
cause problems that look like memory problems.

President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of Defense
Donald H. Rumsfeld,
and Attorney General John D. Ashcroft have committed violations and subversions of the
Constitution
of the United States of America. <www.VoteToImpeach.org> They should be charged with
high treason
and imprisoned frankly. If there is no rule of law there can be no civilization.
