We've pretty well beaten up certain "features" of eBay over the past few days. I think it's now time we move on... to constructive uses of eBay.
Love it or hate it, eBay is one of the major sources of Low End Mac hardware and software these days. A lot of us use it, so we have a large pool of knowledge.
So what's your most important advice?
Be specific!
I'll start with some BUYER Advice:
1. Know what you want!
Do your homework. Apple's kbase, Google, Resellers, Completed eBay auctions, LEM Swap, advice from these LEM mailing lists, etc. Figure out exactly what you're looking for and how much it's worth. That way you won't overbid.
2. Be patient!
That auction that closes in prime time and already has lots of bids -- probably best skip it, it's not worth the stress. There will be another shortly. Check out the ones that close in the wee hours. Good stuff there, and it often gets few bids.
3. Read the auction carefully!
Don't be afraid to ask the Seller questions. Be picky. If something doesn't smell right, either in the item's description or the Seller's terms or the Seller's feedback, don't bid!
FWIW, - Dan.
Stop giving away all my strategies to the "competition"!
