G-mail is Google's "free" email service. The word "free" I put in quotation marks because free is a very relative term. You may want to think about this one, first, before you take the plunge. One of the lesser known facts about Google (the search engine) is that when you use it, the cookie it dumps on your box lasts quite awhile. In fact, it's dated to expire in 2038. Why does a search engine need to dump a cookie on your box that lasts so long? Isn't the information they gather used "in the agregate" and not focused on individual end users? I'm not so sure. And now these same folks are providing an email service... Peep this link...these folks put it better than I ever could: http://www.gmail-is-too-creepy.com/ and for advice on how to block Google's cookie: http://www.google-watch.org/cgi-bin/cookie.htm I'm not saying that g-mail is necessarily a bad thing. I mean, free stuff is always hard to pass up. All I'm saying is that in any situation like this, it's a good idea to do your homework and go in with your eyes wide open. The old saw "there's no such thing as a free lunch" definitely applies here. Best, James Fraser -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
